The Dinosaurs are heading for Clacton Pier for a truly roarsome half term.

A host of life-size prehistoric creatures will be roaming the seaside attraction with their handlers for nine days.

While it’s a welcome return for Loki the Velociraptor it will be a totally new experience for Tiny the Tyrannosaurus Rex and Angie the Ankylosaurus.

Tiny is Europe’s largest walking dino at 27ft in length with Angie boasting the title of the UK’s largest walking Ankylosaurus.

All three are 8ft tall and will be making their way to the coast from Tamworth, and they will be joined by a number of baby dinosaurs.

Jurassic half term, which runs from May 24 through to June 1, will celebrate the second anniversary of Jurassic Pier.

It opened in 2023 and is an interactive walk-through experience leading into a 4D cinema which includes motion seating, audio visual sound and lighting system with 3D glasses and water squirters.

General Manager Harry Peek said the Whitsun half term is one of his favourite events.

“We are very fortunate to be able to team up with Experiences Group once again who deliver award-winning events across the UK and are the experts in their field,” he said.

“It is an amazing see to see these massive dinosaurs strolling around the pier and meeting up with our visitors. They are enjoyed by all ages and make quite an impact. There are plenty of opportunities for photos and fun.”

Mr Peek said that a few tweaks are planned for Jurassic Pier to enhance the experience and further details will be revealed nearer the time.

On Sunday May 25 there will be a free dino-themed audio fireworks extravaganza hitting the skies at 9pm.

Free live music and other dino-themed activities are also being lined-up for a really roaring half term.
