More than 50 new gaming machines are to be
installed as part of a major overhaul and investment in Clacton Pier’s adult
gaming area.

Bosses are introducing the very latest in
gaming technology as part of the second phase of the attraction’s development.

The area will be rebranded as the Pier Casino and
it will double in size under the significant changes taking place.

Director Elliot Ball said that it is important
to provide customers with the very best and newest machines.

“Huge improvements have taken place at the
Pier over the past 12 months in terms of what we are offering our customers,”
he said.

“We have upped our game with Discovery Bay
soft play, Skull Point adventure golf, Dockside Dodgems and the new food and
drink outlets.

“Now it’s the turn of the adult gaming area
and we are going for the most up-to-date technology available on the market. It
will be bigger and better than before and help attract new customers.”

Last week was a busy half term with footfall up
on last year. Sunny, warm weather brought in the crowds to enjoy the rides for
the first time in 2019, along with the golf and soft play.

“We are managing to start our main season even
earlier and it all helps in our goal to create a truly 52-week-a-year venue,”
added Mr Ball.

Once half term was over work started on significant
changes to the main entrance and concourse.

A new concrete base is being put in which will
all help to weather proof the front section of the Pier.

There will be a certain level of disruption to
customers with a compound set up on the Pier’s forecourt.

Those wanting to use the soft play and golf
need to enter the building to the left of the compound while those wanting to
use the arcade and bowling should go through the arcade entrance.

Mr Ball said: “We apologise for any
inconvenience at this time and thank people for their understanding, but you
cannot make an omelette without cracking a few eggs.

“We ask everyone to bear with us and
appreciate our contractors and suppliers working with us to help us achieve
what we are trying to do at our landmark attraction.”
