Final preparations are being made ready for Clacton Pier’s Easter Eggstravaganza.

Bosses at the popular seaside attraction are hoping for a bumper period which will provide a major boost for the town’s tourist economy.

A giant Easter Bunny will be making a visit and will be available for children to meet daily in Discovery Bay, included in the admission price, across two weeks from March 29 to April 14.

Wise Owl’s Library has also just opened in the soft play area with a large animatronic owl reading four different stories. The area is currently undergoing a significant £40,000 upgrade with work progressing on other exciting themed rooms.

Staff are encouraging a golden hen to lay golden eggs, and one will be hidden around the site every day of the Easter school holidays.

The first person to find it each day will receive a free annual rides pass worth £55.00.

An egg trail is also being set up around the pier with eight eggs to be discovered. All those who complete the search will receive a prize which can be redeemed at bowling reception.

One of the highlights is a free fireworks display on Sunday March 31, taking place around 9pm, once it is dark enough. It will be the first of ten in 2024.

Nigel Brown, the pier’s communications manager, said that everyone will be hoping for decent weather to bring the visitors flocking to the pier and Tendring as a whole.

“Easter weekend is traditionally a very important four days for us and second only to August Bank Holiday in terms of footfall,” he said.

“We have arranged activities to ensure there is plenty on over the entire school holiday and our rides will be open for 17 consecutive days.

“We are looking forward to welcoming families with lots of fun on offer – whatever the weather.

“It would be great to get the season off to a flying start and continue throughout the year with many still taking vacations at home and enjoying short breaks.”

Clacton Pier will also be making a donation of Easter eggs to the RNLI for it to give out.
