Clacton Pier enjoyed the sweet taste of success at the Tendring Blue Ribbon Awards 2017.

The company picked up the prestigious accolade in the Hospitality and Leisure category having entered the event for the first time this year.

The Pier was also nominated for the overall Judges Award but lost out to Sta-Lok from Mistley which claimed top spot on the night staged at Clacton’s Princes Theatre.

Two members of staff – Ewelina Majewska and Sharon Charters – made the final four in the Employee of the Year Award which eventually went to Colin Taylor at Funland in St Osyth.

Pier Director Billy Ball said that it was a fantastic evening and all those involved had a great time.

“The Pier prides itself in being very much part of the local community and this was a night for celebration for Tendring’s business community,” he added.

“We were incredibly proud to pick up an award and to have three nominations in two others. It is important that businesses get together and support each other in any way they can.

“I would like to thank the organisers of the Tendring Blue Ribbon Awards for all their hard work and look forward to next year.”

Mr Ball said it had been an extremely busy year for the Pier and it was very satisfying to cap it off with a top award.

“We are one big team and this honour reflects on the achievements of everybody on the staff.

“Now we are all concentrating on what is going to be an even busier 12 months for the Pier as we embark on a major programme of works.”
